Edgebound Desktop 0.2 by techunit Edgebound Desktop 0.2 by techunit
This evolution of the Original edgebound desktop combines the Unity 2D launcher with AWN based wingpanels. It provides an alternative to gnome-shell or unity while providing a rich power environment to work with.

THE PACKAGE MUST BE EXTRACTED TO YOUR HOME DIRECTORY TO WORK!

Be sure to have Gnome-Shell, Gnome-Classic, and Gnome-Fallback installed.

sudo apt-get install gnome-shell
will do the trick.

This package is currently in testing but has been tested successfully.
Thanks for the bug report. Compiz was set to be added to start-up in an early build and was never removed. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you are having trouble with other DEs see the comment below for fixing the issue.

The desktop is made up of the following components
Unity-2D-Launcher
Avant-Window-Navigator
Emerald
Elementary Theme
Faenza Icon Set [link]
Deep Blue (From Elementary OS wallpaper pack)
This theme is designed to convert the gnome-classic session into the Edgebound desktop. Please be aware of this.

It does not yet work in 12:04 The configuration settings are a little different in 12.04 and I am having trouble getting them to work. I have been extremely busy, so it is unlikely that it will work anytime soon.

I'll take a look. The restore was pretty solid last Time I looked. What errors do you get when you do the restore? If none I'll do my best to help. Sorry.

It has completely screwed gnome shell. I only installed it cos it claims to replace gnome classic desktop ALONE. Why has it destroyed gnome shell and how do it get it back?? The undo script does nothing!

Well ok the ~/.config/autostart/compiz.desktop command restored gnome shell. Thanks for the solution. But for a while there it was quite harrowing not having any useable desktops

This totally destroyed my Gnome shell.

Only DE that works now is Unity. and even it is messed up. But the only thing i can use at all.

Incredibly messed up.
Im soo pissed. :(

Can you help me get things back to normal?

The restore script did absolutely nothing.

Very upsetting how something made for one DE screwed up everything. "
Not happy.

Help?

Get access to a terminal and type rm ~/.config/autostart/compiz.desktop

Thanks for finding this bug. It has nothing to do with the theme at all. It has to do with compiz now trying to start in Gnome-Shell which obviously will break it. I this fix to the restore script.
